2011/2012 Cancer Services’ Youth Advisory Council Application
It’s that time of year again. We would love to have you join the Cancer Services TRU Youth Advisory Council for the 2011/2012 school year. Our Youth Advisory Council is made up of middle and high school students in Gaston County. The primary goal of the TRU Youth Advisory Council is to promote healthy lifestyle choices for youth with the focus on tobacco education and awareness. Due to ongoing renovations at Lineberger Park, Cancer Services’ Labor Day 5K has been rescheduled. We are pleased to announce a new 5K partnership with Girls On the Run of Gaston County.

Derby Day 5K to benefit Cancer Services of Gaston County & Girls On The Run of Gaston County.

Cancer Services of Gaston County’s 38th Annual Gaston County Amateur Golf Tournament will be September 16, 17, and 18, 2011. To enter, please complete the 2011 Entry Form with your entry fee of $95. The Gaston Gazette has agreed to publish our National Cancer Survivors Day photos one more time on Sunday, June 12, 2011. Please pick up a copy to see all of our local survivors who contributed photos!

Please join us for a special health education awareness luncheon about Summer Safety on June 15, 2011 at Noon in the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall in Gastonia. Cost is $5, payable at the door. Please RSVP at 704/864-2651.

On Thursday, May 12th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Armstrong Athletic Club, Dr. Mark E. Reiber of Carolina ENT is providing free head and neck cancer screenings. Call 704/867-8900 to make your appointment today.

Cancer Services and The Gaston Gazette are proud to once again host a photo collection for National Cancer Survivors Day. We want Gaston County residents to submit photos of our local cancer survivors. All photos will be put into The Gaston Gazette on Sunday, June 5, 2011.

Entries must be either mailed, emailed, or hand delivered to the Cancer Services office by Friday, May 27, 2011 at noon.

Please remember, this is the last week that you can make a donation to Cancer Services through Community Foundation of Gaston County’s Run for the Money 9.

Remember:
1- Make your check payable to Community Foundation of Gaston County.
2- Complete a Donor Form and designate Cancer Services of Gaston County.
3- Make sure Community Foundation receives your donation no later than Friday, April 22 at 5:00pm.
