In June of 2003, at age 30, my husband Chris and I received some of the best news ever…we were pregnant with our second child!
This exciting time quickly turned to the scariest because of my diagnosis with Stage 3 colon cancer.
After a miraculous surgery during pregnancy, I received a call from Cancer Services offering to help. They provided assistance with medications along with prayers, support and encouragement.
Having a positive attitude helped me fight this battle and gave me the desire to go from being assisted by Cancer Services to becoming one of their volunteers.
Unfortunately, in 2004, cancer spread to my liver requiring another surgery and chemotherapy.
Cancer Services was right there again!
In 2009, I had another setback, as cancer spread to my lung. I had the lower, left lobe of my lung removed and am now in my third year of remission.
I thank God, my husband, parents, family and friends as well as Cancer Services, for all they have done.
