Cancer Services Executive Director Kim Elmore

Cancer Services of Gaston County, Inc. Board of Directors is proud to announce the promotion of Kim Jones Elmore as Executive Director. Cancer Services is a non-profit organization serving the Gaston County community. Ms. Elmore has served as Cancer Services Interim Executive Director since January 2022. While serving as the Interim Executive Director, Ms. Elmore has demonstrated the capacity for outstanding leadership and direction to guide Cancer Services well into the future.

Ms. Elmore has also served as Community Outreach Director for Cancer Services for more than 15 Years. Throughout Gaston County Kim has become a familiar face representing Cancer Services. She has led the Youth Advisory Council, Cancer Prevention, and early detection programs. Kim has also been an informative speaker with Gaston County Schools, educating students about the dangers of tobacco and vaping usage.

Ms. Elmore has been instrumental in major community fundraising events including Cancer Services Faces of Hope and the Gaston County Amateur Golf Tournament also benefitting Cancer Services.

The Diagnosis of Cancer is, unfortunately, more prevalent each day. Cancer Services continues to receive referrals from our hospital and physicians as well as individuals seeking assistance. The Board of Directors is proud to report that every qualified client that has contacted Cancer Services of Gaston County, Inc. has been served. As Executive Director, Kim will continue being the face of Cancer Services as we meet the needs of Gaston County residents dealing with the diagnosis – You. Have. Cancer.

A Gastonia resident since 1973 and a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with an emphasis on advertising.

Kim’s creativity, sense of urgency, and ability to accomplish difficult tasks make her the perfect person to lead Cancer Services of Gaston County, Inc., ” according to Brad Rivers, Immediate Past President of the Cancer Services Board of Directors.

“We are extremely pleased that Kim has taken on this leadership role as Executive Director. We feel that with her years of experience, knowledge of Cancer Services as a non-profit organization, her community involvement, and caring heart, Cancer Services will continue to introduce new programs to serve our community,” says Denise Price Thomas, Cancer Services Board Member and Founder of the Topless Cruise, Convertibles for a Cause.

“Kim will be an excellent leader for Cancer Services and our community. As a Cancer Services board member, I have worked closely with Kim for many years, as well as with the Gaston County Amateur Golf Tournament, a fundraiser for Cancer Services. We look forward to her leadership in the role as Executive Director,” remarked Pat Morrow, Cancer Services Board Member and Gaston County Amateur Golf Committee Chair.
